Author & Publisher Guidelines
If you’re an author or publisher who wants PopcornReads.com to review a book, please read the guidelines below.
Types of Books We Review:
We only review fiction, with a few outstanding exceptions.
Books Forms We Review:
We only review published books or books that are in the pre-publication stage. We generally review mainstream fiction but will consider a self published book if it is a book our blog readers can find through mainstream book sellers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. Indie authors’ books will be reviewed as time and space allows.
If we review a book in its pre-publication stage, please provide a publication date so we can time the review to appear at a mutually agreeable date, preferably when our readers can at least pre-order the book.
If you send us a hard-copy book, we will not return it. We also accept books in digital format for Kindle 2 but we do not accept PDFs because they are too difficult to read on a Kindle 2.
If we review your hard-copy book or galley, we will give it away to one of our blog readers by means of a random drawing. If you prefer we give it to our local library, let us know during your initial email to us. If we don’t review the book, we will donate it to a library once it has been published or, in the case of a galley, will abide by your guidelines in disposing of or donating it.
If we notify you that we will review your book and you wish to provide us with additional book copies or related products for use in blog reader random drawings, we will be happy to discuss that type of promotion with you.
When Book Reviews Will Appear:
If you desire a specific review date or publication window, notify us in your initial email. We will make every effort to review by that date if yours is a mainstream novel; however, it’s not always possible since we have a lot of books to review. We cannot guarantee a review date window for self-published novels.
If we don’t like the book for whatever reason, we won’t review it. This is not to be construed as a judgment of your worth as an author or as a publisher. It just means the book is not to our taste.
If the book is not going to be reviewed for the reason cited above, we will donate the book to a local library if the book has been published. If it is a pre-publication copy (often called an advanced reader’s edition or galley copy), we will wait until the publication date to donate it. If donating a pre-publication copy is not acceptable to you, let us know in your initial email to us.
If you agree to the above guidelines, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to identify the contact as an author/publisher request in the subject header.
